Britta Weimaraner Grand Rapids, MI

Say "hello" to Britta. Britta is a lovely larger al that is about years young. She has recently had a major life change. Sadly, her human Dad passed away unexpectedly and she and her two weim brothers were in the home with him for several days before anyone knew that he had passed. They did their best to watch over the beloved owner but animal control had to take them from their home. Thankful for Britta and her brothers they had human relatives that made sure they made it safely to GLWR. Working together with the Animal Control Officers we wee able to get Britta back into a comfortable foster home environment. Once there she quickly bonded with her new foster Dad. We realized then how difficult the loss was for Britta and that she really needed to be in a home where she could be the center of attention. While she does fine with her weim brothers and foster siblings she prefers to be with ehr humans over all else. Therefore, our desire will be to place Britta in a home where she can be the only dog in the household.

Britta is a little weim "diva". She likes to be in the center of everything. She loves playing with various toys and chew bones. Her favorite spot to rest is on her foster Dad's lap in the easy chair but she will happily take any lap that is willing to invite her for a sit! Britta has relatively good recall and she listens pretty well (for a weim). While she doesn't mind well mannered toddlers and small children who occasionally visit she would not do well toddlers or young children that live in the home or are there frequently. Britta free roams the house without issue and is a typical velcro weim and wants to be at your side following you room to room (yes, that includes the bathroom too)! Britta's ideal home will be with a coupe that only wants one dog or with an experienced weim owner that has a non-dominant second dog. Free roams the house without problem.

Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue is an all volunteer, nonprofit group whose primary mission is to help with the rescue and placement of Weims in the Great Lakes region; including Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Ontario.

GLWR is headquartered in Michigan with a network of foster homes in our State & Country Chapters. We do not have a shelter that is open for the public to visit. All applicants must be approved before meeting any dog in our foster network.

GLWR does not ship dogs, but if you are willing to travel to meet one of our dogs fostered in one of our Satellite Chapters, then you are welcome to apply for adoption. All dogs not listed as being fostered in a specific State or Country Chapter, are fostered in Michigan.
