Meet Gene

Gene had an unattended leg injury when he arrived at Saving Grace that required amputation. He went into foster care for his surgical recovery where there were 4 adult dogs of all sizes, but no children nor cats. This young boy is bouncy and happy, and is learning his manners and boundaries with other dogs and humans. Gene is house broken, crate trained and is very content when his person is near. He is very happy chewing bones, playing with toys, relaxing in the screen room or just lounging in a dog bed. He was crated when his foster family was away, he slept in a dog bed in the foster family's bedroom just like his foster siblings, and was allowed to roam the house with his foster siblings.

Gene is an absolute cuddle bug, who just wants to be close to his person where he is safe, and has even fallen asleep while cuddling his foster dad on the floor. He is slowly adapting to his new lifestyle, and has learned how to do small outdoor staircases, and get around wood and tile flooring, which is difficult to do when he goes too fast. He gets tired very easily, as it is a lot of work to get around on 3 legs, but he gets stronger and gains stamina and confidence every day.

All puppies and dogs at Saving Grace are crate trained, have been spayed/neutered, are up to date on their vaccinations, are on heartworm preventative and have been microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350.00. Each has been carefully screened for disposition and temperament in order to provide your home with a safe companion that will enjoy life as your new family member.

Our Adoption Form can be completed online https://savinggracenc.org/how-to-adopt/. Please visit our new website at https://savinggracenc.org

An Adoption Form is required before setting up an appointment to meet with a potential adoptee or a foster home.

Sending an Adoption Form does not commit you to an adoption, it simply provides us with background information on potential homes.

If you'd like to donate to help cover the cost of care for these wonderful dogs awaiting new homes, please visit https://savinggracenc.org/giving/

Saving Grace is a small, non-profit 501-C3 organization operated by volunteers only. Most of our animals come from rural animal control shelters where lack of space and resources limit their time and adoption possibilities. Thank you for choosing Saving Grace! We look forward to helping you find your new companion and family member.
