Meet Akela

Akela: Graceful, noble, and lucky. While that is the Hawaiian definition of her name, her life before Saving Grace was anything but. Akela was rescued from a poor situation where she was chained outside in freezing temperatures, trying to shield her day old babies from the harshest of realities. She was brought into rescue and has been feeding, nurturing, and loving on all ten of her babies since. Flourishing in a home with steady meals, a soft bed, and a safe environment, she can finally breathe easy, and bask in the comfort of her new surroundings. You can see it in her kind eyes and sweet face that she is the epitome of grace. She holds no malice toward her past, and is only looking for love. She seeks a family of her own and simply wants someone she can love unconditionally, who she can share her snuggles with, and someone to treat her like the precious soul she is.

Akela is great on a leash, she also loves to be off leash and explore in the fenced in backyard. She doesn't move too fast, so would be great for a family who likes to take evening strolls. She is very smart and knows to sit, and is very responsive to learning new things. Akela has recently learned the comforts of being a couch potato and would love to have your body as her new pillow. She is great in a crate, and fully potty trained! Akela gets along beautifully with all her doggie foster siblings, however she's really just not so sure about what to do with the resident cats, so she'd do best in a home without cats. Akela has not met a person she doesn't love. Her belly rubs are free, and so are her kisses; she certainly doesn't discriminate. She is a calm, quiet dog, looking for a relaxing space to call her own. She's a young adult around 2 years old.

All puppies and dogs at Saving Grace are crate trained, have been spayed/neutered, are up to date on their shots, are on heartworm preventative and have been microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350.00. Each has been carefully screened for disposition and temperament in order to provide your home with a safe companion that will enjoy life as your new family member.

If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please e-mail a completed Adoption Application to savinggrace@savinggracenc.org. An Application is required before setting up an appointment to meet with a foster home and potential adoptee.

The Adoption Application and Adoption Contract can be downloaded from the Petfinder Homepage or our new website at www.savinggracenc.org or by clicking on the links below: Click here to download an adoption request today. Click here to download an adoption contract. Click to see our events! Sending an Application does not commit you to an adoption, it simply provides us with background information on potential homes. Please review our Adoption Contract before sending an Application to ensure that you will be able to provide the requirements stated in the contract. The Contract must be signed at the time of adoption.

Saving Grace is a small, non-profit 501-C3 organization operated by volunteers only. Most of our animals come from rural animal control shelters where lack of space and resources limit their time and adoption possibilities. Thank you for choosing Saving Grace! We look forward to helping you find your new companion and family member.
