Meet Rosie

Hi! I am Rosie and I am 4 years old. I was turned in by a hunter because I would no longer hunt. It took me a few weeks, but I learned to be an inside dog and all of the joys that come with that. My foster family gives me lots of love and attention, which I really enjoy! I like women and kids, but men make me nervous until I get to know them. I do love my foster Dad. He holds me a lot and let’s me sleep in the crook of his arm some nights. I am so happy when my family comes home that I do my hound “bay”. They squat down to pet me & that calms my excitement right down. I even roll right over for belly rubs, which cracks them up! My Mom calls me her "shadow” because I just want to be with her all of the time. When I’m awake, I am curious, and want to play with my foster siblings, who are setters. When it’s time for bed, or a movie on the couch, I can carry out some serious ZZZ’s! In the morning, I’m the last to get up. My Mom laughs when she has to make her bed around me! I go all night without needing to go potty (8-10 hrs), as long as I get to pee before bedtime. In the morning, the 3 of us go right outside and do our thing. I like having consistency, especially since this house stuff is new to me. Really loud noises, like a nail gun (my foster family recently had some hardwood floors put in), are scary. But if you hold me and tell me it’s okay, I can get through it just fine. I’m a quick learner! My foster family includes 2 cats and we get along just fine.

I’m completely house broken. Most times I whimper or bark to go outside, but sometimes, I just stand at the door and wait for you to see me. I love walks and get excited when the leashes come out! I sit nicely to have my pronged collar put on, which I only need because I’m strong and it keeps me from pulling my walker. Once we get going, I hardly pull at all. They call me "Nosy Rosie" because I like to check out EVERYTHING with my nose (might have something to do with being a hound!). I have never met a dog I didn't like and I love to play with them. I would love it if you had another dog for a buddy. My Mom says I need to learn more about “personal space”. I have no idea what she means by that! When I lived outside with my puppies and other hounds, we laid all over each other in the kennels. My foster siblings get grouchy when I’m too “on top” of them, which isn’t often, but I get the hint. Most times, they like when I use their butt for a pillow or want to lay next to them. Oh! And how about toys? Those are cool. I had never seen one until my foster home, and I do have some favorites! My foster mom had my teeth cleaned when I was spayed, and now I love to chew on antlers and firm chew toys. The WUBBA is also one of my favorites because my foster brother likes to play tug-of-war with me. I’m just a happy girl who is loving my new life. I have so much love to give back, that my butt wiggles with joy! If I sound like your kind of girl, submit an application soon. They say I am a looker and will go fast!

All adoptive homes must have a fenced yard or other type of containment or boundaries for the dog. Vet and personal reference checks as well as a home visit will be conducted prior to final adoption approval for all OESR dogs.
