Please contact Southern California Dachshund Relief at: Dena@SCDR.org, and not the rescue group connected to this page. The best (and preferred) method of contact for quick response is by way of e-mail. Please read dog’s entire bio before contacting rescue.

Rosie is approximately 7 months old and weighs about 11 pounds. Her heritage appears to be Dachshund and Chihuahua. Her silky black coat is shiny like patent leather. Rosie was rescued from a back yard breeder who was leaving her outside 24/7. She was full of ticks and fleas. The Good Samaritan who rescued Rosie tried to get Rosie’s brother too, but the breeder didn’t want to let him go. Once Rosie was cleaned up, rid of fleas and ticks, the Good Samaritan contacted SCDR, and we jumped at the chance to find little Rosie a home.

Rosie is a wonderful puppy, friendly, affectionate, mischievous, curious, and silly. The other dogs in her foster home are helping her learn proper dog-etiquette, and she readily joins the fun with the other doxies when a game of chase or wrestle-mania breaks out.

Rosie is now learning to be house trained, but she still needs someone to take her outside every couple of hours and stay out there with her to praise and reward her for a good potty. She is already 90% reliable. Rosie sleeps through the night in the big bed with her foster family. No accidents. She is crate trained if she has a companion to keep her company. She loves to be held and cuddled. She is generous with her kisses. The home for Rosie needs to have the following qualities:

• Someone at home most of the day, for example, stay-at-home moms/dads, folks who work from home, or complimentary schedules among the adults in the home.
• Previous puppy experience is a plus.
• Though another dog for play and companionship is ideal, it is not mandatory. Teddy might even be a good candidate to live with cats.
• A very secure INDOOR place for puppy to be when no one is at home (we recommend a small wire crate).
• Applicants must be between 30 and 65 years of age.
• No infants or toddlers, please, but we will consider families with children who are gentle and well supervised by parents.
• We only adopt dogs as INDOOR dogs. Dogs can go outdoors for play (with supervision at this young age), for potty, but never to be excluded to an outside area.
•
Rosie is spayed, has received all of her vaccines and is microchipped. Stairs will not be a big issue for her as she will be taller than the average dachshund due to her mixed-breed heritage.

If you are interested in Rosie, please contact Dena at (562) 694-6868 or email Dena@SCDR.org. A home check and an adoption application are required.

The adoption fee for Rosie is $200.00.
