Meet Amigo

Hi my name is Amigo,
I don’t know exactly how old I am but the Vet tells me I am probably 4 or 5 years old. However, I have large paws so I am often mistaken for a much younger puppy. I have the body of a medium size black lab and a really cute Rottweiler face. I am so happy to be rescued from a desert in southern California. I love to be around other dogs and am even comfortable around cats. People still scare me but once I warm up to you I will be the best friend who will never leave your side. I bond quickly with one person who will be my main human but I will warm up to each person who bonds with me, takes me on walks, talks sweetly to me and gives me love. If you were so inclined, I would probably like to try an agility course because I love to get out, play and have fun and I’m good at jumping. I am the ideal combination of athleticism and energy but I still love to snuggle you.
I am eager to please and will try to learn new things. My foster parent taught me to sit, wait patiently by the door before she calls me and I let her wipe off my paws before we go into the house. In order to get me the exercise I need, I even learned how to run next to a bicycle. I really do need at least two hours of exercise per day. I definitely don’t like to be left in a kennel or crate when you leave me alone and I will probably try to get out in a bit of a panic. Although I'll play it cool, resting on the bed by the time you find me. I sleep fine in the crate as long as I know you are nearby. I would also be happy to sleep on a padded doggy bed. If I get a nightmare, a gentle voice of reassurance that I'm okay will usually do the trick to calm those dreams and maybe even turn them to happy thoughts. I preferably don’t like being alone at all so if you felt like taking me in your car with you, I travel very well. I will emphatically let you know when we are at any drive-thru and I will be sure to let you know that there is a person there who is handing you something suspicious! If I sound like I would be a perfect addition to your family, please fill out an adoption application or email any additional questions you have about me and I'll have my foster human get right on that!

Amigo is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
