Meet Checkers
Checkers is the most gentle, docile setter you are likely to ever meet. This sweet boy has two speeds: couch potato and RUNNING FULL SPEED! He loves going for walks and running around in the yard, but he will definitely need a fence—he made a ...great escape.. from his foster home and ended up over three miles away! He also loves nothing more than a good ear rub, and will sit with his head on your lap for hours if you’re providing that service. He is great with cats and kids and doesn’t seem to be particularly interested in other dogs one way or another ...he and his foster sister give each other the occasional sniff, and that’s about it.. Checkers was turned into the shelter as a stray so not much is known about his backstory.... however it’s obvious that he is new to the whole....living indoors.... thing for instance, he still hasn’t quite mastered the art of stairs, though he is getting better. He has a quiet personality and has that air of stoic gratitude that is common with dogs who have been neglected in the past but now realize that they have a loving home. If you’re ready to bring this gentle setter into your home and share in his unconditional love, apply to adopt him now.
