Meet Levi

Levi was found as a stray in a nearby neighborhood. There was no response to the various attempts to find an owner. The nice folks that found him could not keep him and since none of no-kill shelters had any availability at the time, they were planning on taking him to the Wake County Shelter. As a neighbor I stopped by and saw him. He was very friendly but jumped up and was playful mouthy. I did not want to see him go into the overcrowded shelter system and figured I could at the very least teach him some manners before attempting to find him a home. He had some skin issues and was not neutered yet so I had him neutered and vaccinated. It took a while to resolve the skin issues but his skin is fine now. He did well with some training and stopped jumping up and learned the “place” command and waiting for food, respecting thresholds and walking on a leash. He can get excited and rowdy but has been practicing staying calm so he is in a listening mode and will pay attention if someone or another dog does not get him over amped up. He gets along great with other dogs but will defend himself if in a fight situation. One of the dogs he lives with caught a wild baby bunny and when Levi came over to see what all the excitement was, the other dog was very possessive and started a fight with Levi. Levi did not start the fight but definitely defended himself. Levi is a very curious dog and is always interested in what you are doing. He is a good snuggler. He is crated whenever he is home alone so he doesn’t have the opportunity to make any bad decisions. He loves meeting people, dogs and kids.
