Meet Zoey

Sweet Zoey is Ready to Play

11-month-old, female, German Shepherd
Good with all people, but dog selective

German Shepherds are working dogs, and as such, most of them need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation in order to thrive. That’s the case for our sweet girl Zoey.
Zoey is going through some training to work on her manners, but her foster mom can’t say enough about how sweet natured she is. She loves people and is learning how to channel her excitement so she doesn’t jump and kiss everyone she meets.
When Zoey arrived, we were told she was on anti-anxiety medication. Her foster mom, under veterinary supervision, has been working hard to wean Zoey off the medication. She believes that Zoey wasn’t getting enough exercise and attention and that’s why she was anxious.
This lovely girl would do best in a very active household where she can be challenged both mentally and physically. If you’re a runner or hiker, this might be the companion you’re looking for. And she will need to continue her obedience training that she’s been working on so hard.
Zoey does show leash aggression, so she’ll need training to help her learn to be more comfortable on walks and hikes when meeting other dogs. She would be very happy to be an only dog as long as she gets plenty of exercise. She is good about getting in her kennel for relaxation time and she’s housebroken.
If you’re an active person and have experience with the breed, Zoey could be the perfect best friend for you. If you’re interested in adopting, please fill out our online application to get the process started. We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. All staff members are volunteers and are not compensated for their time and expenses. Many juggle family and full-time careers while volunteering at Saving Paws. Please be patient, as sometimes it takes up to 5 days to process an application.
