This handsome and loving guy was found as a stray in Phoenix, and
despite the finder’s attempts to locate his owners, there has been no success. The finder immediately realized what a great dog Rex is, and he wants to continue fostering him until SPR finds him his new forever home. Rex is a pretty low - key guy. He’s more of a mellow shepherd than some. He’s also incredibly friendly and really enjoys attention. He follows his foster dad around the house and always lays next to him on the floor. His very favorite activity is going for a ride in his foster dad’s semi. He jus
t loves to feel the wind in his face, which is adorable. He would be a great dog for a family who wants a traveling companion for camping or hiking. He loves to go for walks and meet people, but it a little bit timid at first. Once he gets some pets, he’s all about getting more! His foster said he’s very easy to work with but seems to be a little afraid when voices are raised. But with a positive, happy tone, he comes right over and is thrilled to be getting lots of attention. He’s been introduced to othe
r dogs and has shown no aggression, and was very mellow during the meeting. And he’s doing OK on a leash, but will need further training to improve . And he’s very easy to correct because he really wants to please his people.His foster has discovered he has a hard time seeing in the dark. During daylight and when there are lights on, he’s fine. But he seems to bump into things a bit in low or no
-light situations.We are working on getting an evaluation from an eye specialist.
