Chad is a Hurricane Harvey survivor. He loves having his butt scratched and is a joy to walk on a leash. He has played with my daughter and was happy to just sit in her lap and be scratched and pet. He will absolutely benefit from having training because he is very alert and enjoys waiting for direction.

Chad just moved over to foster and is easing into homelife quite nicely. No housebreaking accidents so far! Even though we're guessing he spent much of his previous life outside, he does have good house manners. He's a big fan of his comfy dog bed -- which he likes to fill with toys. While he will hang out on permitted furniture, he understands OFF. At dinner time, he'll look at us pitifully when we all sit down, then he curls up on the floor and snoozes - no begging. First night with us -- we made up a comfy blanket nest for him next to my nightstand but he jumped right up on our bed. So, yeah, he sleeps well at night!

Chad loves walks. He's a solid boy, built low to the ground, but a front-hook harness is great for walking him. He's great meeting other dogs on leash. We went to a dinner party last night with a similar-sized boy and the two **really** wanted to play, but the hostess wasn't comfortable with 130lbs+ of whirling dervish, so they regretfully settled down.

Chad adores our 11-year old granddaughter. He's shown zero food aggression, so I'm thinking he should be fine with kids about 8 or 10 and up. He's not aware of his own size and thinks he's a lap dog, so he might sit on someone smaller. Chad was intensely interested in a cat on our walk, so I wouldn't be hopeful that he's cat friendly. He definitely responds to squirrels and flies, too.

He's a mellow boy and really only barks when the leash comes out. He does fuss a little when folks leave the house. We crate him when we are at work. He's not the biggest fan and will whine initially but does seem to settle down. He's quiet when I get home from work. He would probably be fine with the run of the house, but since we're all still getting to know each other, the crate is the best plan.

You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please check out our information about fostering by visiting http://www.homewardtrails.org/foster-a-pet/dog-and-cat-foster-program/
