Charlotte Border Collie Mix Troy, VA

Charlotte is an older Border Collie mix. She is 10.5 or 11 years old. She has lived outside all of her 10+ years, but made the transition to an inside dog with ease. She does have access to a doggie door to the fenced yard and another to an enclosed deck, where loves to sit and watch traffic. She does well in a crate, but doesn't seem to need one, as she is very good when left alone.

She is pretty easy-going. Her foster family walks her 1.5 miles, 2x every day. She has adapted to leash walking, and appears to love 'going for a walk'. The evenings we have not been able to get out, she is a tad antsy, but does settle down.

She does get along just fine with the 2 male dogs in her foster home, and she doesn't seem to be bothered by older children. She has not been exposed to younger children thus far.

GDU does ask a minimum adoption donation of 300.00. This minimum donation includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate, heartworm test and preventative if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. The foster family may include a small transitional bag of the food they have been on, and if they have grown attached to a specific item while in their foster home, they might send this along, as well. This minimum donation does not even begin to cover the actual expenses each animal has while in rescue, but does go directly towards vet care for our rescue animals.
