Red is a 14.5 pound male dachshund mix. He was found on the Dry FrÃo river near Knippa about 9 months ago. I did not want to see him go to the pound, so I rescued him and brought him home. He was definitely someone's pet, but he doesn't have a micro chip. He has received his rabies shot, but I did not think to ask the vet about his age. Judging from the grey in his mussel, I would guess he is 5 years or older. He is very sweet and well behaved, although he still needs to learn how to walk on a leash. He is an escape artist, as he will get out of a regular collar and a harness unless you connect the two together. He has done well inside a carrier. He was able to control his bladder and bowels over night and did not wine nor bark while in the carrier. He gets along well with other dogs, but I am unsure of how he will do with cats. I have had a few cats come up to his fence and he whimpers and acts like he wants to play with them, but I have not allowed them to interact. He is super affectionate, loves to sit in your lap, and wants to be a house dog. I am currently living in my parent's carpeted/furnished house, so he is not allowed inside (as he does pee/spray everything), and it is so unfair that he has to stay outside in this heat. I would really like to see him find a loving home where he can sit on the couch with his owners and watch TV. He really likes shows with animals.
