Meet Ringo

Foster Pupdate 9/15/2017

Ringo is in the Canine 101, Basic Obedience class through Green Dogs Unleashed's Unleashed Academy, where he is learning sign language for basic commands, how to walk on a leash, etc. I bought a second gentle leader and worked with Ringo and he did great. Walking them (Ringo and our dog) together by myself (each with a gentle leader on) went very well this morning. I think Ringo is pretty smart and with time and training he will do so well. We are working on sit and stay so I get to through the door first.... I'm rather clumsy at this. I expect it will take some practice. Still figuring out where Ringo can see the best and where to position hand signals etc.

He seems to know sit very well. He also will stay for short periods especially when he knows I have treats in my hand. He is very well potty trained, and does well in the crate at night. we just need to cover it over - he walks in on his own calmly and is quiet.

He LOVES LOVES LOVES to play and wants to do it MOST OF THE DAY. He brings toys to us all the time and likes to be touching or leaning against us while chewing. If we throw it and he sees the general direction he can find the toy and immediately brings it back to us. He is very affectionate.

He also LOVES LOVES LOVES to wrestle with our dog Ziggy, and is actually turning out to be the dominant dog. If I throw a toy and Ziggy catches it, it takes seconds usually for Ringo to get it from Ziggy and bring it to me. Then I throw it again and we start the whole thing all over.

FOSTER MOM UPDATE: 8-19-17

Ringo is 10 mos old, deaf and vision impaired. He is sweet and very loving. Thinks he is a lap dog. Crate trained and will sit for a treat. I cover his cage at night and he sleeps until I get up in the morning. That's a plus!! He gets along with my German Shepherd and Molly/Bithia my foster border/lab. But best of all he ignores my little babies, a Pom and a Pom mix. Ringo is very active and needs plenty of exercise. Someone needs this beautiful baby in their life. Don't miss this opportunity

Ringo is an 8 month old Aussie, coming to GDU from our favorite Alabama foster Mom! He is deaf and vision impaired, but that doesn't stop him from loving life! He is a typical Aussie boy - playful, fun-loving, loves people and other dogs. As far as we know, he has not had experience with cats. Ringo weighs 32-35 lbs. He will need a family who is committed to helping him learn and practice his sign language commands, and who is committed to LOTS of DAILY exercise. He will need a solid fenced yard, as electric fences are not appropriate for deaf pups. Agility training, frisbee competition, or someone who jogs daily, would be perfect for this handsome guy!
