Stuart Chihuahua & Dachshund Mix Normal, IL

Stuart is a 10 month old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. This pup weighs in at just over 9 pounds, making him the perfect size for your lap! He will do best in a home with no kids under age 12.

Stuart's foster mom had this to say about him:

"Stuart can be a bit timid and shy at first, but it doesn't take long for him to warm right up! Stuart will greet you with lots of hugs and kisses when you come home!! He'll love his people with everything he has. He loves snuggling on the couch and in the bed. His favorite spot is to be all the way under the covers right by your side! He is the happiest little guy when he is outside rolling around in the grass and going on walks. I've never seen a dog light up as much as he does on walks! You can't help but smile with him! Stuart has so much fun personality in one little package that he will make his future family smile every day! We have two cats and a dog who Stuart does well with. He would probably prefer they weren't there though so he could have all our attention to himself! Stuart does like to warn you by barking when strangers walk by his yard, but loves other adults when we are out walking on leash. Because of his size and love of his adults I think he would do best without small children. We haven't tested him around kids though.

Note: Stuart does really well when eating his food by his humans, but won't eat or gets annoyed when eating around other animals. We've taken his food from him and used our hands to feed him and he seems totally fine with that. Only growled at our dog one time when chewing on a greenie. I think the little guy was just getting frustrated it was taking him awhile to finish it and our dog was getting to close for comfort. That is the only struggle Stuart seems to have had in the last few days, and has been wonderful in all other ways! On potty training, he seems to be potty trained related to his crate and when we are home, but if left out of the crate alone that is when he still gets a little confused. Also, being a new place probably just adjusting! I think he would quickly learn to be fully potty trained in his new home. He sits by the door to go out and knows where to go if we ask if wants to go outside. He sleeps in his crate at night really well too! He cries a little bit at first but quickly falls alseep for a whole night. We are honestly really impressed with how well trained he is for only being 10 months old! His future family will be very lucky to have him!

His minimum adoption donation is $275 plus a $10 fee for rabies registration with McLean County Animal Control.

He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
