Maximillian/adoption pending Rottweiler Mix Medfield, MA

My name is Maximillian, Max to my friends. I am a 1-year-old mix breed. My first family listed me as a Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix on the paperwork they filled out, but the Shelter really isn't sure what mix I am. I weigh 56 lbs. and am extremely handsome and nice which is what is important. My favorite toy is a yellow soccer ball. I love to give kisses and go for long walks.
I was adopted shortly after arriving at the Medfield Shelter in late June after being transferred from a larger shelter but was just returned because, like many young dogs, I am high energy and need an owner that can be a leader and give me the exercise I love.
I was given up by my first family when they moved and couldn't take me with them. In my first home, I loved my human children that were ages 9 and 18 and was a good friend to them. I have never lived with a dog but I like them if they are nice to me. I like all types of people.
Together with the shelter's volunteer trainer, I have been working hard to walk well on a leash with a training harness. If I do well I get treats so believe me I pay attention!

I love to play fetch with a Frisbee and my big yellow soccer ball and will come back when called. I know sit, stay, down and give paw and love to go for long walks. I am extremely smart and eager to learn more commands. I am very gentle when given treats. Won't you make an appointment to come meet me and maybe take me home?

We give priority to people that fill out our adoption application, so if you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, that is the first step. E-mail inquiries about a dog are not considered an application.

If a dog is listed on our website, that means that dog is still available for adoption. The Shelter is staffed primarily by volunteers so adoption meetings take place on Saturdays from 11 - 1:00 during adoption hours, or by appointment. Our dog adoption fee for dogs 5 years old or younger is $350. Every dog we place is given age-appropriate vaccines, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, tested for heartworm and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash and a month's worth of heartworm preventative. If a dog is listed on our website, they are still available for adoption. Please fill out the adoption application if you would like to be considered for a dog you see in our care.

With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both.
