Simba Pomeranian Chatham, ON

NOTE: Since our volunteers drive in order to conduct home visits for potential adopters, we can only accept adoption applications from Windsor, Chatham Kent, Sarnia, London and places within those boundaries.
 REQUIREMENTS: secure, enclosed fenced yard, a home in which he is the only dog (or proven compatible with any other dog(s)), a home where he will not be left alone for long periods
Simba is a 5 year old Pomeranian who weighs 8 lbs. He has plenty of energy for play or walks but can also amuse himself.
He walks extremely well on a leash (without pulling), and he has been taught to sit and shake a paw. For much of the time he is quiet, but seems to think he is the noise police and has to bark at loud buses, trucks, motorbikes, etc.  Also, he adequately takes on the role of watch dog, letting you know if someone is approaching or intruding.
Simba appears comfortable having an open crate in a quiet corner as a place of refuge. When left alone for short periods he is content. Simba has quietly slept in the same room as his fosters all through the night. He is a very clean little boy and has not made a mess in the house.
As Simba was raised as the only dog for five years, he has had issues with some dogs, but also had fun, playful energetic times with other dogs. It really depends on the mannerisms of the other dog. Further dog socialization and interaction will likely improve his attitude towards other canines.
His main carergivers may have been women since he has, on occasion, displayed a protective role in the house when a male has approached. His fosters are working on correcting this behavior to ensure he feels more comfortable with men.
His ideal home would be with a young retiree or couple who are looking for a loving, loyal companion.
