Athena German Shepherd Dog Mix Fredonia, WI

Hi my name is Athena. I am about 2 years old. I came from a horrible situation down south. Imagine a day like this.....being in an outside kennel which was about 6ft x8ft with multiple dogs- 3 at least. When your humans came out to feed you they dropped the food in the kennel and we had to fight for what food we did get. Needless to say, I hated it and got bitten many times just trying to get some food. In fact, I learned how to climb out of that 6 ft. fence to escape the pain and cruelty that was inside it only to be caught and put back in it. Until one day, some people came and took me from that life. They told me I was going to a place where I didn't have to be afraid and could eat in peace. That place was White Paws German Shepherd Rescue. I am in a wonderful foster home in West Bend, Wisconsin and am ready to find my forever home.

I am completely house trained, I can sit, lie down, come, and shake. I am working on stay, but I get so excited, that it is hard for me to not move. My foster mom says I am such a fast learner, and that I am super smart! I am very good with most dogs (I can be picky with who I want to be around), and also cats. I love children of all ages, and I am very good with babies. I do get very excited around little people though, so I need to be supervised. My cat siblings like to curl up with me when I am sleeping, and the humans love to snuggle with me too!

I love to run a lot, and love to go for long walks. I walk well on a leash, but I still get nervous when strangers come up to pet me. I love going to the dog park, and am learning how to play with the other dogs. I am crate trained, and I even go in by myself sometimes. I want to be with my humans all the time so when they have to leave, it makes me nervous. I would prefer to have humans that are home more than they are not. However, I am working on being more confident at my foster home without my humans at home. I am taking daily medication which is managing some incontinence issues I am having. It is a low dose and the medication, prion, controls the incontinence but I need this low cost medication daily. The medication is working perfectly to help control my bladder.

I am microchipped, spayed, and current on vaccinations. I am eager to please and am very loyal. My foster mom always tells me what a good girl I am, that I am very sweet. I would love to be a part of your family, so come meet me soon!!!

Puppies, under 1 year - $350.00
Dog's 1-7 - $300.00
Senior's - $150.00

All our dogs are Vet checked, spayed/neutered, current on all shots, heartworm checked and on preventative before being adopted out, and will come with a Health Certificate. We look for the best possible families for them, so please be patient with our adoption process.
