Meet Buffy

BUFFY
DOB/AGE: 4-5-2011

I am an extremely handsome (and pretty chunky) boy! I'm very friendly, I love my people, and I have the most adorable little meow. You might be wondering why no one has come and adopted me. You see, I am FIV+. People hear that, and they think that I am either terminal or that I will get them sick, too! But the truth is, you'd never even know there was anything different about me! FIV is only transmittable to other cats, so while I need to be an only cat (unless the other cats are also FIV+), I can have canine and human family members! With proper care, I will also live a normal, long, and happy life. My friends at The Animal League want me to find a loving home soon, so my fee has been sponsored. I would love to find a family soon!

I am a Forever Hope reduced-fee pet. Read more about Forever Hope pets here: https://theanimalleague.org/we-have-forever-hope/

All of our cats are up-to-date on vaccines, spayed/neutered, receive monthly flea preventative, and are microchipped with registration.

For specific information about a particular pet's fee, please call our center at 352-429-6334.

If a pet is listed here on Petfinder, then YES, we are still taking applications! Please call our center for details about meeting them (352-429-6334).

If the pet you are interested is a under 6 months, please review our Age Policy here: http://slal.org/age-guidelines-for-adopting/

Get started by filling out your application here: slal.org/adoption-application/
Please keep in mind that kittens under 16 weeks (4 months) will require an approved application prior to a Meet & Greet, as will all felines in foster care. To determine how old a pet is, please see birthdate above. To determine location, please call our center at 352-429-6334.

If you are planning to drive out to visit a specific kitty, please call the Adoption Center in advance (352-429-6334). Most of our cats are located in our cat cottage at the Adoption Center in Groveland FL and can be seen during business hours. We are open Monday, Friday, Saturday 10-6, and Sunday 10-5. We are CLOSED Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.

In addition to the pets at our center, we do have some pets in foster care and some at Petco and Petsupermarket (both on hwy 50 in Clermont) for more exposure, so the location listed here is not always current. Please call first to avoid disappointment.

We work hard to find best match, and this doesn't always mean first come, first served. To understand our adoption policy, please follow the link below, which explains everything in detail.
