Broley Border Collie & Australian Shepherd Mix Louisville, KY

With his striking coloring and blue eye, Broley is, indeed, a very handsome young dog. It is very easy to fall in love with Broley but this young Aussie/Border Collie mix is VERY high energy. No matter how appealing you find a dog's looks, you need to be honest with yourself as to what kind of energy level is right for you. Broley was adopted and returned after three weeks because his adopters found his energy as well as his playfulness with and his inclination to chase their cats to be more than they (and their cats) wanted to deal with. They said Broley did fine around bigger dogs but was less inclined to be respectful around dogs smaller than him. Friendly to everyone he meets, Broley can't wait to jump all over you and cover you with kisses but, at 45-lbs, he can easily knock you down. He would definitely benefit from some training but his breed make-up should make him a highly trainable and eager pupil. Just keep in mind that both the Aussie and the Border Collie are incredibly intelligent dogs that have been known to out-smart their owners. Both breeds need to be kept mentally and physically busy to prevent boredom which can lead to destructive behavior. If you lead an active lifestyle that allows you to include a dog, and have the time, experience, and patience to work with this diamond in the 'ruff,' stop by the shelter soon and ask to meet Broley.
