Meet Tattoo

Tattoo was born on 6/14/16 and is the offspring of a Shih Tzu/Pug momma and a long-haired Dachshund daddy - a combination that has resulted in an adorably cute dog! Tattoo was surrendered by his owner to another shelter and was transferred to our shelter in order to give him a better chance at being adopted. Eighteen-pound Tattoo is apprehensive when he first meets new people but he is affectionate once he's relaxed and will paw at you when you stop petting him as if asking you to give him some more loving. If you've been wanting a Shih Tzu or Shih Tzu mix, you need to know that when it comes to shedding, Tattoo definitely takes after the Pug part of him and his coat does shed quite a bit. We didn't get much history from the other shelter so we don't know if Tattoo is house-trained but he was very good about using the newspaper in his room while he went through Quarantine. He does have some submissive urination when he’s nervous. This is often a reaction that goes away once a dog is comfortable but, still, we want to make sure potential adopters are aware of this. We also don't know if Tattoo lived with cats or children. To be on the safe side, it would be a good idea if any children who live in or frequently visit the home of potential adopters be older and dog-savvy enough to read a dog's signals (like when it's nervous or doesn't want to bothered). Tattoo can be on the vocal side when he's scared or excited so this should definitely be a consideration for potential adopters that live in apartments or condos. A home with a fenced back yard would be ideal but, thanks to our wonderful dog walkers, Tattoo is becoming more comfortable on leash. A home where there's another similar-sized, canine-friendly dog in the home might help Tattoo adapt quicker to yet another new environment. It might take a little extra time for Tattoo to warm up, but he's definitely worth the extra effort! He has so much love to give some lucky person. To find out if Tattoo would be a good fit for you and your household, just stop by the shelter and ask to meet him. DATE OF BIRTH: 6/14/16. /// TATTOO IS SPONSORED THRU JUNE 2017 BY JANE MEULER.
