Meet Blackbird
Blackbird is a gorgeous young cat. She is little skittish and will need a new owner willing to confine her to one room for some time while she acclimates, but we think she will thrive in a quiet home with a patient and gentle person. She loves attention and has the loudest purr we've ever heard. She is also good with other cats and would love a cat companion. She and another cat in our care, Bella, have a great time playing together.
Blackbird originally came into our care six months ago as a shy 3-month-old kitten found as a stray in Medfield. She spent three weeks at a foster home and made great progress. She loved attention and purred a lot, but was only comfortable when confined to a small space (her foster mom set her up in a bathroom). Shortly after she was adopted, she escaped from the room the new owner put her in and disappeared. She was eating and using the litterbox, but the owners never saw her and determined she was hiding in the basement. After months of this, she was trapped in a humane trap and is back at the Shelter. She seemed to recognize her foster mom right away and was friendly and loving with her even after spending five months with no human contact.

If a cat is listed on our website, that means that cat is still available for adoption. The Shelter is staffed primarily by volunteers so adoption meetings take place on Saturdays from 11 - 1:00 during adoption hours, or by appointment. Our adoption fee for adult cats is $125. Our kitten adoption fee (cats up to 6 months old) is $160 for a single kitten or $260 for a pair. The adoption fee includes the first set of vaccines, dewormer, microchip, combo testing (for FeLV and FIV) and spaying/neutering when old enough.
