Meet Taylor

Taylor is an absolutely gorgeous young lady, a small Shepherd mix who is working hard to show the world she is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. Fully grown at around 2 years old, she is a perfect size at 27 or so pounds, and she could stand to gain a couple more. She has a fluffy, coppery red medium length coat, eyes that look as though someone got very heavy handed with the black eyeliner, and a short fluffy tail that wags more and more as each day goes by. Taylor had a rough start in life, and it is clear that in her time on this earth, no human ever tried very hard to earn her trust. She is extremely bashful and takes time to warm up to new people, but she definitely wants to know what it’s like to have love and affection in her life. To help her learn about life in a home, Taylor joined one of Saving Grace’s foster families and has made amazing strides in a short amount of time. She immediately impressed her foster family, both humans and dogs alike, with her clear intelligence and excellent manners. Although she obviously had never lived in a house (or at least had never seen a television!), she immediately made the decision to be 100% housebroken and has not made a single mess in her foster home. She learned the dog door within a week and is great at letting herself in and out when she needs to use the bathroom or wants to soak up a little sunshine. She is also crate trained, though she prefers to curl up in a comfy dog bed in a quiet spot in the house. She is not in the least bit destructive and has proven herself to be trustworthy when left home alone. She is doing well with leash walking and enjoys hiking in the woods. She will need continued help to be comfortable walking in neighborhoods and meeting new people, but we’re sure with time and patience she’ll figure that out too. She is treat motivated, which has certainly helped her to come out of her shell, and she will wait in her crate patiently when it’s time for dinner. She is terrific with other dogs and especially enjoys playing with her Chihuahua mix foster brother and her dachshund mix foster sister. Taylor’s ideal home would have a fenced yard with another friendly, non-dominant canine sibling who will not play too roughly. She rides well in the car, and is a quiet girl who almost never barks. She even had her first bath and while it was not her favorite experience, she was well behaved and tolerant of this new experience. Taylor will do great in a quiet relaxed home with adults or older kids who will give her the time and space she needs to blossom and learn to trust. She is an incredibly sweet and gentle soul who has learned the basics of being part of a family, and is now ready to take the next step to her forever family.

Saving Grace is a small, non-profit 501-C3 organization operated by volunteers only. Most of our animals come from rural animal control shelters where lack of space and resources limit their time and adoption possibilities. Thank you for choosing Saving Grace!
