Meet Stellaluna "Stella"
'Hey Stella!' Whatcha doin' there girl?
FOSTER UPDATE:
Stella Luna is the perfect family dog! She's a high energy girl, so a fenced yard or a very active family would be best. She enjoys running laps around the yard each morning before breakfast, and gets along really well with other dogs. She loves playing tug-of-war and wrestling, and holds her own with my 80-lb boy (even though she only weighs about 50 lbs). I imagine she's be a good agility dog. She likes the great outdoors, and appreciates the freedom a dog-door into a fenced yard gives her.
She is loyal and watches out for her family, but still loves attention from new people. She's a bit too curious about cats, so a home with either no cats or a dog-savvy cat would be best.
Although she can't hear, she is working on learning basic hand commands.The best person for her is someone who's consistent and firm and can resist giving in to her adorable face and big ears when she's doing things she shouldn't. And because she can't hear, she sleeps like a champ and doesn't care when I open a cheese bag in the kitchen. She's completely house broken.
Stella Luna is sure to be an outstanding addition to any family that's lucky enough to adopt her.
This active girl came to us from Florida. We know nothing of her history, except that she ended up in a shelter, then a rescue for deaf babies, then landed here with us at GDU. She has gorgeous Corgi ears, so definitely a Corgi mix, though we have no idea what the mix is. She is so loving and playful, and is great with other dogs and people. We can't imagine her not liking anything or anyone, though we have not seen her interact with a cat, as of yet.
Each morning before breakfast she puts most any runner to shame by doing 8 or 10 laps around the yard at full-speed! This girl would be a great running partner!! She is deaf though, so needs a little extra care when she is out and about, so that she doesn't get turned around and get lost. She apparently likes the frisbee!
Stella is scheduled to be spayed this week, and then can head off to her new home. If you would like more information about this awesome girl, please complete an adoption application.
