Meet Taz

Taz, a/k/a 'The Beastie Boy'

PLEASE NOTE

Taz is not your normal Great Dane. He is not one for the meek, the new/first-time dog owner, or even your typical Dane owner. He MUST have a LARGE, totally fenced in yard. The fence must be solid and tall. Taz is a BIG BOY who needs to be able to burn off excess energy in a safe place. He must have someone (or another large dog) to exercise him on a daily basis, and by that we do NOT mean just letting him out in the yard to run around by himself. Walks are great, but will not be enough for this boy. This sweet beast MUST go to someone with proven large-dog training and/or handling experience.

Please read below for more general information.
From his Foster Dad . . .

He's a 14-16 month old harlequin Great Dane. He's a sweet boy, but he's huge and he's never been taught how to act. He throws his weight around, sometimes intentionally, but more often because he just doesn't know how to control it, or even that it's something that needs to be controlled. In short, he's a big puppy with an arrested state of development.

He is neither blind, nor deaf. He seems healthy as a horse from what I can see. He's over 100 pounds already and will probably put on another 20 or so. He's got cropped ears, which I don't approve of, but at least they did a good job with them--they look good. Everything about him looks good.

Taz went to an adoption event today at our local ValuPet store. He definitely did better outside, as his tail clears store displays and the drool flies everywhere when he shakes his head. He was happy to be right in the middle of everything.

We did attract some attention outside the store. I can't tell you how many people told me what a big dog he was as I was holding him. Lots of folks wanted to pet him. He's an absolute love bug. When anyone pets him he repays the tactile attention with a big lean. He was fine with kids, at least if they didn't mind having their faces slimed. He wanted to meet every dog he saw and I generally didn't allow that, not knowing how the other dogs would react. But he was good, golden really.

We do need to figure out a way to make him more manageable on a leash, but that's really his only social issue.

Again, please NOTE:
