Meet Luci:: Approximately 10 months old, Spayed Female Cane Corso Mastiff. 80 pounds, and growing.

Luci, a gorgeous Cane Corso Mastiff puppy, is as sweet as can be! She is typically very docile and will come to you for affection (usually in the form of wanting her belly rubbed) when she wants it, but otherwise has a very independent disposition. Luci is submissive and playful with other dogs and would do best in a home with another dog her size who loves to play. Luci is housebroken, does well on a leash, knows basic commands, and is friendly with people and children. She is very treat motivated and her favorite pastimes are tug-o-war, playing with her foster mum's other dogs, chewing Nylabones, and napping. We have always made sure to redirect any protective Cane Corso instincts into positive behaviors, and have been successful in molding her into an even tempered and well mannered pup. Because Luci's breed has a natural prey drive/instinct, we prefer she goes to a home without cats.

Luci (Lucinda) was one of five Cane Corso puppies we rescued in October 2016. They were all abandoned at a lake and left to fend for themselves at only 8 to 12 weeks old. All were adopted, but Luci had to be returned to us through no fault of her own. We make a lifetime commitment to every animal we rescue, so when some unforeseen changes occurred in her home, she had to be returned to us to be rehomed. Luci has spent the majority of her life in the same foster home, minus the ~4 months she was in her adopted home. She is fostered with other large dogs and children and does well with everyone. Prior to their adoptions, a volunteer funded a DNA test on the puppies, confirming that they are pure Cane Corso Mastiffs.

We are looking for adopters who have experience with the Cane Corso breed, or similar breeds (ex. Neapolitan Mastiff, Dogo Argentino, Presa Canario, etc).

Cane Corsos are not like English or other common Mastiff breeds, and they are not a breed for new pet parents, so experience is a must to adopt Luci. We want her to go to a home who understands her personality and loves her for it. Luci is a wonderful example of the Cane Corso Mastiff.

LOCAL adopters only, and a SECURELY FENCED YARD IS REQUIRED to adopt Luci. No exceptions. Because you must meet all specified requirements to adopt Luci, please tell us the details of your experience with this breed, or similar breed, on the application.

$150 adoption fee includes her current vaccines, spay, current on flea and heartworm prevention, and lifetime membership microchip.

Adoption events are held every Saturday in our thrift store from 1:00 to 4:00pm. Please complete your adoption application in advance so our volunteers have time to screen and contact potential adopters.

All applications are reviewed in the order they are received and qualifications are based on best fit for each individual pet. A volunteer will contact you if you are selected for a meet with adoptable pet. Final approval is always made in person.
