Meet Bisquit and Scooby

Meet the incredible adorable and lovable Biscuit and Scooby!! They are litter mates and must be placed together. They are 4-years-old with a special need, they have Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) which is a hereditary disease that slowly causes blindness. Learn more about PRA: http://animaleyecare.net/diseases/pra/. Currently they have some vision in well-lit areas but really rely on your voice to find their way. They are able to acclimate very quickly to new surroundings are are very confident boys. Because they are blind this has slowed down their activity level which has lead to weight gain. They love to go for leash walks and have great recall. The boys are great with small animals, including cats. They are good with other dogs but other dogs get very confused about their condition. Their blank stares can be interpreted as aggressive or dominant behavior. They also run into people and animals as they wander through their days. This bumping around also can be a trigger to other pets, so it will depend on the temperament of the other dog in the home. Both of the boys travel really well and love to go new places and are very well socialized.

Biscuit: Biscuit is a lover! He likes to cuddle on the couch, in a chair, on a bed...anywhere! His vision is slipping a little more than his brothers and he sometimes gets lost in the dark. On walks he likes to walk right at your side, like a good boy! He is a very typical Weim in that he is a velcro Weim. He searches a room until he finds you and will not leave your side.

Scooby: Scoob has an old ACL injury in his back right leg and seems to struggle more than his brother with his joints but he does not let that slow him down! He is the first one out the door for walks and must lead the way! He thinks he is a runner for the first mile and then finds his pace back by his brother ;) He is responding well to fish oil and glucosamine to keep those joints healthy. He has also found how much he enjoys apples and carrots to dog treats. It will be very critical for his quality of life, to watch his weight and keep him active. Scooby shies away from getting up and down on things like couches, beds and jumping out of vehicles. He loves to curl up with a blankie on his dog bed,or sprawl out in the sunshine in the backyard. Oh and this fella loves a kiss! All guests MUST be greeted with a smooch

Please contact us if you are interested in being a hero to these lovely boys! They are being fostered in Middleville, MI.
