Abuse and neglect have faces and names. This is Gabriel.

Gabriel once had, what he believed to be a family and home. He was cruelly discarded, however, and left behind when his people moved. He wandered the old neighborhood and would gaze longingly at his old home. Occasional scraps came his way but no one opened their doors. Somehow, he managed to survive the long winters.
Gabriel's luck changed, however, when a kind person heard the story of the battered cat who hadn't given up hope. She also heard he had gaping wounds behind his ears and was in "bad shape".
She was fortunately able to find him, get him to the veterinarian and called us for help.

Through all of this, Gabriel has never lost his faith in people. He craves affection and gently rubs and butts his head against you. He is happiest lying by your side and asks for little more than your companionship, and maybe a can of that great food! He is thriving in a loving foster home and his wounds have healed.
Unfortunately, Gabriel tested positive for FIV. The good news is that many cats with FIV can live long, happy lives. We believe, as does Gabriel, that his special person or family is out there. He was meant to be an angel in someone's life.
