Hi! I'm Sugar Pie. It has been exactly one year since I first arrived at The Animal League. In that year, not one person has put in an application on me, or asked to do a Meet & Greet. My Adoption friends have tried suggesting me, but no one seems interested. This makes me very sad, since I am a great dog!

Over the past year, I've seen all my friends find homes, and while I'm happy for them, I have to wonder if my time will ever come. It seems like everyone wants the cute, fluffy puppies, but I keep getting overlooked.

I know I'm just a plain hound dog who only has one eye, but my Animal League friends believe I deserve a home just as much as any other dog! In fact, a couple months ago, when my eye was causing me some discomfort, they arranged for my surgery to have it removed. Surgery was expensive, but thanks to the Sunshine Fund?, I am no longer in pain and I've made a complete recovery! Despite the cost of my surgery, I have a special, reduced fee to help me find a family.

I'm a laid back girl. I like to sleep most of the time, although occasionally I like to really go to town on toys! I walk well on a leash, too. I'm a bit shy at first, but I come around quickly and am a total lovebug with my favorite people. I will sit on their laps or lean into them just to be close!

I would prefer to be an only dog, however, I'll be the only dog you ever need! If you think you might know someone who is looking for an awesome dog, please share my story to help them find me! I really hope I don't have to wait another year to find a home!

All our dogs are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, receive monthly flea and heartworm preventative, and are micro-chipped with registration.

Please keep in mind that puppies under 16 weeks (4 months) will require an approved application prior to a Meet + Greet, as will all canines in foster care. To determine how old a pet is, please see birthdate above. To determine location, please call our center at 352-429-6334.

If you are planning to drive out to visit a specific doggie, please call the Adoption Center in advance (352-429-6334) to ensure they are ready for a Meet & Greet. Most of our dogs are located at the Adoption Center in Groveland FL, and can be seen during business hours. We are open Monday, Friday, Saturday 10-6, and Sunday 10-5. We are CLOSED Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.

In addition to the pets at our center, we do have some pets in foster care. Please call before making the trip out to avoid disappointment.
