Rufus Hound Mix Eau Claire, WI

Howdy, my name is Rufus, and I am a neutered male Hound mix that was brought to the shelter as a stray. I am about 9 months old with a heart of gold and a zest for learning new things. I am super sweet and I love everyone, but it is quite obvious that I have not had the advantage of basic obedience training. You might say that I am a diamond-in-the-rough waiting for that special pet parent to teach me more about how to be a good boy. I know I can do it; I just need someone to show me the ropes. Since I don't always realize how big I am, and did receive a low score on the rawhide part of my shelter safer test, I must ask for a home without small children. The shelter wants to make sure that I will always be a good member of your household, therefore, you will be required to take me to formal obedience training classes as part of my adoption. This really sounds like fun and I can't wait to get started. I am a great dog with lots of happy energy, and I will always be ready to go with you jogging or walking with only a moment's notice. I will do best in an active home that is use to large dogs and could provide me with lots of mental and physical stimulation. A home with a fenced in yard where I can run and stretch my legs would be great too. Initially I can be quite a puller on leash because I am so excited about being out of my kennel, but I calm down quickly, and then I am much more calm and easy to handle. I hope to receive lots of attention and cuddle time from you, and will reward you with love, loyalty, laughter, and companionship forever.
