Hi, my name is Richie. I am a very handsome brindle and white, 1-and-1/2-year-old, neutered male Boxer in need of a home without children. I am a super sweet guy with plenty of kisses and hugs to go around, but sometimes I forget just how large and strong I can be. I am intelligent and I love nothing more than to please you. I enjoy most treats and I take them from you very gently, which makes it easy for me to learn new things. I already know sit, stay, and heel. I am working on being more polite on leash, come when called, and down. Plus I have some anxiety about getting into a car so we are working on that too. Since I was brought to the shelter as a stray in February 2016, staff and volunteers have worked hard with me to trust people and learn how to be a dog. I have no idea what toys are, and some of them actually frighten me. It takes me a bit to get used to new people, but once I understand that you love me, I bond to you like glue and would do anything to please you. If you sit on the floor by me, I will sit on your lap and cover your face with kisses over and over again. I LOVE being close to you and may even sit on your feet when we stop for a minute during our daily walks. The chaos of being a shelter resident continues to make me a little nervous, so I am being kept on a more quiet part of the building. I have made great progress with my training. To keep me on track, staff members have decided I need to continue my training at emBARK as part of my adoption requirements.
