Meet Captain Morgan

I am a 10 year old Pomeranian. Let me tell you about my little adventure…or some would say nightmare. I was with a family for ten years who took care of me….at least medically because I am heartworm negative, I have a gorgeous coat, and other than a few teeth that have been removed I got a good set of chompers. I got into the car with my family one day, which I was super excited about because I LOVE to ride, but by the end of the day found myself sitting on cold concrete and behind metal bars at the county shelter. Now, I know that I have some issues but after ten years??? the family that helped me develop these issues due to lack of training and environment dumped me? Sad that they had a choice but I did not. Well there was quickly comfort in the form of BARC Humane Society. Without knowing anything about me other than I had been dumped at the shelter about 30 minutes prior to their arrival, they rescued me. I was in a home again. Well as I became comfortable I started showing how I express myself in inappropriate ways and since my prior owner never corrected me, it became all I knew. I snap. I snap to express my dislike of something; like being picked up when I don’t want to be or being nudged in a certain direction. I am housetrained, can co-exist with other dogs and cats, and do well on a leash…… but I snap. Now luckily my foster parent has been patient with me and is working on correction but let’s face it, I’m ten and may never change my ways. I now realize that my prior family didn’t take care of me when they allowed this behavior to continue and did not tell me that it was wrong. Now BARC Humane Society has the difficult task of trying to find me a forever home that is willing to be patient with me and understand that my first family let me down and lack of training and correction has developed into a special need that puts me at risk. I’m easy to learn and I like to be held, just on my own terms. After finding rescuers out there like BARC I know that a special family is out there for me….are you that family?
