Cheddar Domestic Long Hair Eau Claire, WI

Cheddar is a fluffy 2 year old neutered male with a feather duster tail and yellow/gold eyes that are begging for you to adopt him. He is a shy fellow that was brought to the shelter as a stray on 12/31/15. Like many cats, Cheddar is not fond of being held in your arms for long periods of time. However, he does have a very easy-going and friendly personality, loving all of the attention and cuddle time that comes his way while by your side, on your lap, or sleeping with you at night, and likes to sneak under the covers to feel even more cozy. Cheddar is a VERY playful feline that enjoys all types of toys, and is confident and independent enough to entertain himself if you are having a busy day. The tension of being a shelter resident with all of the noise, meeting strangers, and seeing so many different animals come and go has been difficult for him, so Cheddar spent some time in a foster home to give him a break from the shelter environment. While there, it was very obvious that Cheddar finds comfort in the company of other cats and will need to be adopted into a multiple cat household or with another feline friend. He tolerates dogs in the home, but has absolutely no fear of them and will charge at any dog if feeling threatened by one that suddenly approaches him in any way. Cheddar will do best in a quiet home where he can feel safe and content with a family that will treasure him forever. He is tolerant of having his long, soft coat brushed daily in order to keep it free of mats, but it is not his favorite part of the day. The way to his heart is with plenty of chin and butt scratches along with a treat of catnip which he LOVE, LOVE, LOVES!! We have discovered that he is a curious plant eater, so please be careful as to what kind of plants you might have in the house. Cheddar is a wonderful fellow that is trying so hard to be brave until someone with a gentle touch and a soft heart gives him the home of his dreams. Cheddar is a talkative fellow and is still learning that it is fine to seek attention from humans. As much as he loves attention, he wants it to be his idea and will rub on your leg and meow at you, but becomes leery and fearful of being picked-up when you go to pet him. Cheddar is thrilled with being petted when he jumps up next to you. If you think that you might be the perfect pet-parent for this special feline, please ask to visit with him!
