Meet BEE TEE

Back on March 13th, 2012 I received a phone call and then an email regarding this beautiful black tabby boy who was rescued on the Michigan/Ohio border:

" Hi,  Marlene Johnson told me to contact you about finding a home for our rescue cat. He is FIV positive and I have been unable to find him a home sine I took him in back in the fall of 2011.  Our Vet has given us information concerning your facility as you had recently taken in a cat he had.  The kitty has been neutered and vet. checked. I also will donate to you if you consider taking him in.  I have spent hundreds of dollars for ads in the paper to no avail to place him in a home. Planned Pethood said to put him down. He's loveable and healthy except for the FIV.  When you have a vacancy, can you take him in?  Thanks, Debbie Jankowski"
Well, I contacted Debbie (and had spoken with Marlene as well) and I put him on our waiting list, which at that time was over 2 dozen cats long.  In the meantime, Debbie got him vaccinated against Feline Leukemia, as our sanctuary houses both FIV and Feleuk cats and spent some quality time with him in preparation of bringing him to us across the state.  On July 23rd, we finally were able to open our doors to this fine fella, whom we named Bee Tee. I think he was probably born in the summer of 2008, but we have no idea where he came from or what his life was like up until Debbie befriended him.  Ill-advised to euthanize this precious life due to contracting a virus he had no defense against, Debbie was smart enough to research and pursue other options;  kudos to her!

Bee Tee took to his new surroundings almost immediately, although Debbie was very worried;  visiting our shelter put her mind at ease.  Hearing updates form me also helped her adjust to the loss of this wonderful cat she had considered a pet, but just couldn't keep as her own.  Often times when  I go to Big Sids, I can find this  boy hunkered down in a cozy cubby, lounging languidly, spending the afternoon enjoying in the creature comforts afforded to him in our cage-free environment. IF he isn't napping, he is making the rounds, exploring the place and introducing himself to the other 129 residents.  He seems very content and happy now that he has a place to call his own, but rest-assured, we will do everything in our power to find Bee Tee a home.  Because he isn't a nipper or a biter, there is no risk of him transmitting the virus to another cat, so adoption is a very viable option!!!
