Meet TITUS

Focus on Ferals comes across their fair share of friendly toms when live trapping in the greater Grand Rapids area, and terrific Titus (born around April of 2007) in no exception. A bit haggard when trapped, he blossomed into a fabulous feline while in Gina Marvin's care, but when he tested positive for FIV, she asked if we could take him into our program. So in April of 2009 Titus became an official Sid's Kid, and let me tell you, he has been loving it ever since. Initially a bit shy, he was nonetheless always seeking face rubs and head scratches, and after just a few weeks in our care, he opened up into an even more outgoing fella! Footloose and fancy-free, Titus roams our two-story facility as if he has always been a part of the resident population, a friend to all who cross his path, furry and human!

I can’t believe as I sit at my computer updating his bio that Titus has been with us for almost SEVEN YEARS! I think part of the reason that he has become such a fixture at our facility is that he is so mellow and laid-back when adopters come a-callin he gets overshadowed by some of the more outgoing personalities; they put their game faces on while he prefers to sit back in the stands and watch the game. As one volunteer put it: “Titus is one of those quiet guys that is usually nearby if you look for him. I usually find him by looking up, as he is typically peering down at me from some high vantage point, but as soon as I make eye contact with him, he’s all about interacting. Although he seems a bit quiet he’s quite an affectionate and sweet fellow, he just let’s you pick the time and place for one-on-one.”

Since tantalizing Titus hasn’t a mean bone in his beautiful body, adoption is a VERY VIABLE OPTION, as is true with most of our virally-challenged kitties. FIV can only be transmitted through penetrating bite wounds, so risk of a non-infected cat picking up the disease is slim to none when the cat in your line of sight is Titus! The only issue he has had over the years is a mild case of ‘pillow-foot’, or pododermatitis, where a few of his pads swell ; this is controlled with steroids on an as needed basis and is very inexpensive to treat. More than anything, I want to be able to pack his little kitty bags and send him on home before the end of the year: it is my one New Year’s resolution. Please, please, PLEASE consider making this genial gentleman part of your fur-ever family; I assure you, you will not regret it, as this will turn out to be THE BEST decision you have ever made!
