Meet CLEVELAND

WOW—times sure does fly! If you read the following excerpt below, you will see that captivating Cleveland has been with us at our sanctuary now for almost 7 years; I am LONG OVERDUE on updating his biography, so I am adding some comments and observations now (January, 2016).

“Back in June of 2009, Jeff and Rosemary Davis, with the help of Focus on Feral's Gina Marvin, live trapped a cat that had been hanging around their Wyoming home. When world-weary and quite fella (born in June of 2006) turned up FIV positive, they couldn't TNR him, so Gina contacted me, and on June 30th, we took this battered boy in. Most of his head and his entire neck was nothing but old scars, healing bite and fight wounds, and on the right side of his neck, he had a quarter sized neck wound that was fresh, raw and infected. He had broken and missing teeth, needed a dental and multiple extractions, and wound care/antibiotics as well.

Shortly thereafter, he fell prey to a nasty viral URI, and developed a tongue ulcer that left him painful, drooling, and unable to eat much, so once again, he needed in depth medical care. Some cats, I tell you, just can't catch a break! I will say, though, that Cleveland is one tough cat, as he takes whatever comes his way with stride and still manages to be quite calm and complacent about what life throws his way. He has quickly proven to be one of the most mellow, easy-going guys we have at Big Sid’s!”

Over the years with us, Cleveland has become a favorite, due to his charming, gentle ways and his come-hither stare. Two of his fans wanted to rave about him:

Cleveland, while he isn’t too fond of being held, is warm and friendly, especially if kitty treats are involved. Rather than challenge a cat for honing in on his wet food, he waits to enjoy it thoroughly and gratefully when inside of his very own cubby.”

“Cleveland is one of my weekly cat checks, so I know a little thing or two about him:) He is such a mild-mannered, laid-back, sweet-as-pie, wise beyond his years old guy. He tolerates his nail trims with class, and there isn’t a mean bone in his body. He has a tendency to swallow his Temptations treats whole (well, he did have to have most of his teeth pulled since he has been with us). I just love him to pieces!”

I think it goes without saying that our sweet senior citizen deserves a home of his very own as he approaches his milestone birthday; if you can help make his wish come true, let us know!
