Wyoming resident Donna S. is no stranger to saving cats in need from the streets in her neighborhood, so it was not shocking when she contacted us in late November, 2015 regarding a friendly fella she had been looking after since May. Unable to house another cat indoors due to her own feline population and personal health issues, she asked her caretaker to house him temporarily; when he was taken in to a vet’s office and tested positive for FIV, the woman decided she did not want to put her cat at risk. Even though FIV is ONLY transmitted via deep puncture wounds (via biting), we certainly understand her line of thinking, so we offered to take this gorgeous brown and white tabby into our program. Born in March of 2012, Beckham hasn’t an ornery bone in his muscular, magnificent body, though he did have a few injuries that were in various stages of healing when I first met him. In fact, when he first arrived, he was quite head shy, and it took him several weeks to totally relax and learn to revel in the attention and affection lavished on him by his adoring fans at Big Sid’s. Once he realized that human hands dish out endless skin scratches and noggin rubs, Beckham was all about the lovin’ 24-7; in fact he will bend over backwards for it!

I have to say that naming him and all of his handsomeness was a no-brainer, as he is such a striking, stunning fellow - a splendid specimen just like his namesake:) He joined the ranks at our sanctuary about the same time as three other resplendent creatures did (Mr. McGibblets, Dixon and Nat King Cat), so the ladies have been fawning over them like school girls with big-time crushes! We have to admit, it is difficult being surrounded by such hunks, but it is a chore the volunteers have happily accepted:) Beckham boasts internal beauty as well as an easy-going, laid-back style, gets along famously well with any cat he comes into contact with, and is so thrilled to be indoors that he simply soaks up his surroundings with pure contentment.

As with the majority of our fabulous FIV+ felines, adoption is a very viable option, and cats like Beckham should not be overlooked simply because of their viral status; if only Beckham been neutered and kept indoors by a responsible loving pet owner. No matter at this point, as we are thrilled to call him one of our own, and as long as he is an official ‘Sid’s kid’, Becks will want for nothing, and have everything that his precious little heart desires!
