Spruce (third longest resident) Domestic Medium Hair Eau Claire, WI

Spruce is a 1-year-old neutered male that was brought to the shelter as a stray on 11/19/15. He is small with a gorgeous smoke colored coat, highlighted by a black head and tail, with white on his face, chest, and paws. He has very handsome LONG whiskers, a cute pink nose, and he is current on his shelter vaccinations including rabies which will not expire until 12/19/16. Poor Spruce is a super sweet fellow, but is having a difficult time adjusting to the chaos of being a shelter resident. He is curious about everything that is happening around him and stretches his neck to see, but is much too shy to boldly come to the front of his cage begging to be adopted like so many of the other cats. He loves to be cuddled and scratched, but when you take him out of his kennel and set him on a table, he freezes in one spot as if he is afraid to move. He is trying his best to be as brave as he can, and finds comfort in curling up in a shoe-box when it gets too noisy or there are too many people around. Spruce is in need of a quiet and gentle family that will take it slow and easy with him until he feels safe. He LOVES attention and leans into being petted, but needs the quiet environment of a home in order to blossom into a confident feline.
