Meet Roxy

Arrival story: Roxy's family reached out for help when they could no longer care for their dogs, and a local angel asked Waggin' Tails to help this sweetie find a new home.

Approximate age / weight: 5 years and 19 lbs.

Good With Kids: Roxy would be fine with older kids who leave her alone when she "asks" them to.

Good With Other Dogs: Roxy can co-exist with with calm dogs, but isn't interested in playing with them.

Good With Cats: No. Roxy finds cats unnatural and intimidating.

Housetrained: This little lady has impeccable house manners!

Crate Trained: Roxy likes her crate and often chooses to hang out in it.

Walks Nicely On A Leash: Yes

Knows Basic Commands: Workin’ on it.

Energy Level (Couch Potato, Moderate or High): Low to Medium

Special Needs: N/A

Personality: Once Roxy is comfortable, she loves to cuddle. When not cuddling, she's content to hang out in her crate or on the couch. She doesn't mind other dogs, but isn't very interested in interacting with them (although she'll join them at the fence to watch and bark at dogs passing by). And she's always up for an outing!

At first, Roxy is wary of new people and dogs, but she is very good at communicating her discomfort by using appropriate body language and warning growls (no biting or snapping, just a vocal request to back off a bit). She becomes more relaxed when she realizes these signals will be respected. She does tend to be protective of her personal space.

Forever home:Roxy would be an ideal companion for an older person or couple. She's always interested in going places and doing things, but isn't overly active. She can co-exist with a calm dog, but would probably prefer to be an only dog.

Pre-Adoption Application: To be considered for a dog, it is best to submit a pre-adoption application. The Pre-Adoption Application can be downloaded from our website - http://www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoptionprocess.html. Just complete the application and email it back to wtdr2008@yahoo.com
Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $225 for adult dogs. Different adoption fees apply for older dogs, small breeds and puppies - $125 for senior dogs, $275 for small breed dogs and $250 for puppies, plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.
We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. To meet a dog in person, please see our event calendar for the latest information. Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).
Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.
Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
