Meet Shelby

Arrival story: Shelby was surrendered due to an illness in the family that prevented them from giving Shelby the attention she deserves.

Good with Kids: Yes
Good with Dogs: Yes but prefers people
Good with Cats: Unknown
House Trained: Yes
Crate Trained: Yes but not fond of crate
Walks Nicely on Leash: Yes

Approximate age / weight: 3 years old and 25lbs.

Personality:
Shelby is just a little love bug! She walks nicely on a leash and enjoys long walks. Shelby prefers the company of women more than men but she has really warmed up to her foster Dad. She’s the type of dog that needs to get to know you before she showers you with her affection.

She previously lived with a 10 year old and has been around kids in her foster home but prefers the company of gentle adults. Shelby is good around small and large dogs but isn’t really interested in playing with them. This girl is all about the humans. She hasn’t been cat tested. Shelby is good at the vets office and rides in a car nicely. We are working on Shelby shedding a few extra pounds as it is not good for her breed to have extra weight and stress on her back.

This girl is so much about her people that while she is crate-trained, she prefers a soft, warm spot next to humans in bed at night. Shelby really doesn’t enjoy being in her crate and would prefer a home that would allow her to spend most or all of her time outside the crate. She doesn’t much like toys but bring on the snuggles cuz this girl wants a cuddle buddy!

Forever home:
Shelby would do best in a home with people who are home more often than not and would love a home where she gets to sleep in bed with you. She can get along with other dogs but she would do well as an only dog as her main focus is humans.

Contact: Please contact wtdr2008@yahoo.com for info on adopting our Shelby!

Pre-Adoption Application: To be considered for a dog, it is best to submit a pre-adoption application. The Pre-Adoption Application can be downloaded from our website - http://www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoptionprocess.html. Just complete the application and email it back to wtdr2008@yahoo.com
Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $225 for adult dogs. Different adoption fees apply for older dogs, small breeds and puppies - $125 for senior dogs, $275 for small breed dogs and $250 for puppies, plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.
We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. To meet a dog in person, please see our event calendar for the latest information. Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).
Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.
Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
