Meet Kolohe

Kolohe is a super sweet 2 year old spayed female American Staffordshire Terrier mix. She just takes it as it comes. Calm and mild mannered. She loves her people close by, yet is fine home alone while you are at work. Kolohe is kennel trained but is an excellent girl left out. She LOVES car rides and sits so nice just looking out the window. She will even lay down sometimes. She also loves to go for walks, but if she spots a rabbit or squirrel she can sometimes forget her leash manners. She has met two cats and was curious but once she sniffed them over she walked away. She loves to play ball in the yard although she doesn't quite get that she has to drop the ball so you can throw it again. So we play with two balls and sometimes she tries really hard to get both of them in her mouth. Kolohe loves to cuddle in a blanket on the loveseat and she very much prefers to sleep in the bed with you. She likes to talk if she is wanting something and she has quite the noisy yawn. She HATES the rain and getting her paws wet. She will avoid going outside during the rain if at all possible. She loves sitting on the deck in the evening watching the rabbits in the yard. She knows the words rabbit, bunny and squirrel, and gets very excited when you say them. Once in a while she has to be reminded that she can't chase the rabbits and squirrels, but she listens VERY well; she will stop dead in her tracks when told no. Kolohe is not a dog that tries to sneak out every time the door is opened but she will bark if someone comes to the door. Kolohe is a good girl off leash in the yard and just sticks by you, but sometimes has to be reminded that she needs to come back closer to you. Kolohe loves to be petted and rubbed everywhere but especially her head, tummy and neck. She will fall asleep if you rub her. Kolohe has some chronic allergies that act up once in a while and get itchy. We have had her on grain free food, and fish oil supplements to help with her coat. Medicated baths help too. We finished 3 months of Iver, but never had a positive skin scrape. She does like to rip apart sticks she finds in the yard and is a little persistent on that. She also likes the raw hide chips and the squeaker toys, but has no interest in the raw hide bones or deer antlers. She loves the Kong filled with treats and peanut butter. Tennis balls left unattended do not stand a chance of survival; she will rip them apart in a short time, so we put these up for outside play only. She knows the word treat and will gently take it out of your hand. Kolohe is an overall great girl with lots of love to give and she deserves a great family to love her back. Before you adopt her, please check with your landlord and renter's insurance company or your homeowner's insurance company to make sure that they do not discriminate against her breed, and she will need to be spayed before going home with you. Note: Kolohe is currently enjoying time in a foster home. For more information or to set up a time to meet her please call the shelter at (715) 839-4747 ext. 21.
