Meet Summer

Summer has come a long way, baby! She's about 3 yrs old and was surrendered by her owner who could no longer care for her. She has lived her whole life outside, in a dirt floor kennel, and unfortunately, had some health issues associated with that kind of life. Basically, she was so riddled with fleas, her coat was basically, NOT, and she had to be put on meds to handle the inflammation and irritation from the overbearing buggers. But she's better now, and looking good! Her coat is mostly all grown back, and there's no need for medication any longer. Summer was also not used to people, and her first few days at the shelter, she tried to burrow under the walls to get away from us, but patience and love conquers all, and she's in a foster home where she gladly runs up to them and waits to be picked up! Summer LOVES the grass - there's SO much to smell and explore! She's really blossomed and is loving life! She discovered what a belly rub was the other day, and now she's hooked! Still learning about that darn leash, though! Oh, and, she likes the water! She went to the beach for the first time and was carried over streams, and she did that "air paddle" thing in your arms! But once down on the ground, curiosity took over and she waded out up to her knees, so ya know..about an inch deep...and she hung out there and seemed to really have a good time! Summer needs a calm, patient home willing to help her on her journey to Funtown. She's still timid with new people, and is more comfortable hiding under a chair, but she's better every day! She's great with other dogs, and cats and is still working on that house training thing. Summer is current on shots, microchipped and spayed. The adoption fee for Summer is $195. The fee to adopt is charged to recoup standard veterinary expenses.
