Tex Treeing Walker Coonhound Mix Eau Claire, WI

Hi, my name is Tex and I am a Treeing Walker Coonhound mix. True to my breed you can expect my nose to be to the ground during much of our walks and I can be a little strong minded if I catch an interesting scent, but I am a really friendly guy. A volunteer took me to a baseball game and I did great with all of the extra attention from strangers. Everyone was so proud of me and I had a great time! I am a 1-and-1/2 year old neutered male, and was surrendered to the shelter because my previous owners could no longer care for me due to their health. I had lived in that household since I was only 4 weeks old, so being a shelter resident has been quite an experience; however, I am a happy-go-lucky, move-on kind of guy that adapts to new environments and new routines very easily, and I can't wait to be adopted. I am housebroken and family is very important to me, so I must go to a family that will keep me as an indoor dog, but will also give me plenty of exercise and things to do outside. I am full of energy, and I love to cuddle, play ball, and go for walks. A home with a fenced in yard where I can exercise my nose as well as my legs would be a dream-come-true because I have a lot of energy to burn, and I will run if given the chance. I do NOT do well with cats, but if you have another dog my size we could be friends, running and playing and having fun while entertaining you with my silly personality at the same time! I also do well with older children and I know sit, stay, down, and shake. I am funny, good-natured, fun-loving, very sweet, and I love my special humans! With some training I could be the perfect dog. I want to be in the same room with you, and I love to cuddle so much that I will even plop down on your lap if given the opportunity to do so. I will need a home where someone is around most of the time because I really dislike being alone, and if I had a dog friend to play with and to keep me company, that would be even better! I am a happy dog waiting for just the right family to fall in love with me. I hope to become a special member of your family very soon!
