Meet Walker
Hi! I'm Walker, and I love you! I also love squeaky toys, cuddling, other dogs, cuddling with other dogs, and I love you! My perfect day involves sleeping in late (wouldn't you if you couldn't have coffee?) and cuddling with my forever family. When it's cold, I like to burrow under covers. If it's warm, I sprawl across the entire bed (yes, I will find a way to take up an entire California King.) When we finally get up I will go to the bathroom outside (I poop and pee on command!) Then we'll have breakfast. Your food smells delicious, but if you tell me leave it, I absolutely will not touch it. I'll eat my breakfast of grain free food (the stuff with grains makes my skin itchy.) Then we'll go to the dog park. Oh my goodness, how I love the dog park! I will sprint and play with the other dogs for as long as I can see my people. If I get too far away, I'll run and run until I can see you again. I'll let you know when I'm ready to leave by standing by the gate so you can hook my leash. Then we'll come home, and I'll take a nap while you do people things. I'll check on you once in a while, we'll play tug, and I'll demolish a squeaky toy or two. Then it's time for bed. My favorite! I may snore like a train, but it's endearing, I promise. I have puppy dreams at night where I whimper and twitch before returning to my usual sound of sawing logs.
I was found wandering around Waukesha in 2013 and taken to their local shelter. The nice people at the Monroe County Humane Society had more room than the first shelter, so I transferred to their shelter. I lived with a wonderful foster family, but unfortunately my forever family wasn't in Monroe County. I'm such a cool guy that when Monroe County Humane heard that the Eau Claire County Humane Association was willing to take dogs, the nice people transferred me again. I've been adopted and returned three times during all of these transfers and am currently being fostered by a staff member at ECCHA. If you can imagine, it's been very hard for me to say goodbye to so many nice people; just when I get comfortable, it's time to move again. I've heard the nice people talking, and they say it's because I have something called separation anxiety. They said separation anxiety means that when I'm left alone, I panic and will go to the bathroom wherever I am (in the house, kennel, wherever.) All I know is that I've been left so many times that when I'm alone I never know if I'm going to see my people again. I love my people so much that never seeing them again is the worst thing I can think of.
I'm around five years old, neutered, and a bit of a baby when it comes to having my nails trimmed or teeth brushed. I think it's fun to attack ducks and cats but am fine with squirrels and small dogs. I also do great with kids of all ages when I am out of my kennel. The vet says I have partial tares in both rear ACL's that will likely require surgery later in my life. The nice ladies at emBARK have been helping me learn lots of useful things like come and stay. I'm very smart so I learn quickly and they give me lots of treats!
Won't you come meet me? I already love you!
