Meet Charlie

Hey! This is Charlie. Charlie is a pointer mix. He's 61 pounds and a ball of love. He is about a year old, so still a trainable baby. Charlie came to our home after spending his entire life outside with minimal interaction.
I am happy to say that he house trained in days! He is a pup that wants to please. He has learned to come, sit and lie down. He loved dinner time and the play time he has with his foster fur sister. Stuffy toys are always a hit. Unfortunately for him, he didn't know what to do with toys, before coming to our home. His foster human sister and foster fur sister have taught him a lot about play time. Charlie has, even, learned how to play fetch!!! He is getting much better about having the leash on. When he was first rescued, he didn't even know what a collar or leash were all about. He would bounce and cry when we leashed him. Now, we have a hard time getting him to stop playing in the yard to come in!
He has bonded to his family life. He loves to be right at your feet. Night time brings cuddles and love. Once he has had his fill of the loving, he will hop down onto the floor and snuggles onto his bed. He used to be anxious when he felt that he was being left alone. Now, he is feeling a lot more secure and will quietly lay next to the door to wait for his person to come back. We are working on 'stranger danger' with him. Since we don't know what his life was before us, we are suspicious that there may have been a person(s) who may have given him some negative attention. That said, he is working on being welcoming to everyone who comes to the house. Even with that anxiety, he has come a very long way in the month we have had him. We keep his favorite treats on hand for the new person in the house to give to him, when they come in. That almost always makes the transition a happy one. Once he get the treat and sees that the new person is OK, he settles right in and becomes best friends with them. I am sure that this will be something that he will work out of, as I have seen a vast improvement in just a two week span.
Charlie has a lot of love to give and would love to have a fur sibling to play with. He would probably do OK being a single dog, too. We haven't seen how he reacts to cats. He does have a hamster that rolls through. He loves to watch him, but doesn't bother him. If you want a pup that will make you laugh and fill your heart with love, Charlie is the one!!!

Charlie's adoption fee is $200 and covers the cost of his neuter, vaccines, preventative medications, microchip and 30 day free trial pet insurance. We are a 501c3 non profit organization and your adoption fee is a tax deductible contribution.
