Velvet Domestic Long Hair Mix Louisville, KY

In late October of 2014, fluffy-coated, wispy-earred, white-whiskered, emerald-eyed Velvet was dumped on a farm in Brandenburg when she was only a few weeks old. Whoever abandoned her, however, must have cared about her to some degree because she was clean, flea-free, and well-fed when she was discovered. The young property owners would have liked to have kept Velvet but were afraid that their barn cats would kill her so they brought her to us so that we could find her a loving home. Velvet was pretty traumatized when she first arrived at ACS so one of our volunteers/Board members fostered her until after she was spayed. Velvet has been here ever since and is more than ready for a new home. She isn't too crazy about being picked up but once she's nestled on your lap, she's fine. She's just one of those independent cats that likes to call the shots. Velvet will co-exist with other cats and she doesn't mind a well-mannered dog provided it doesn't intrude into her personal space without being invited to do so but we think she wouldn't complain if she were to be someone's 'one and only.' Lots of female cats (and some male cats, too!) have the same diva attitude as Velvet but we bet their owners wouldn't trade them for the world. All Velvet is asking for is a chance to work her way into your heart. And, thanks to the great folks at Pet Wants on the Avenue, the person who adopts Velvet will get one month of free cat food!
