Dutchess - Adopted 09/13/2014 Dachshund Livonia, MI

Dutchess is a very sweet 5 year old dachshund. She came to Safari as a bit of a mess, but always kept her tail wagging. Dutchess is house broken, but when there is a significant change in her living situation, may regress for a short time. She loves to go for walks and car rides or just sit on the couch and cuddle. Due to her body style, Dutchess should not climb stairs or jump on or off furniture. Dutchess did have mammary tumors, so regular exams by her owner are recommended. She also has an oral/nasal fistula that was improved by surgery and has not caused any issues. Dutchess has lives with various sized dogs and cats. She has spent time around various ages of children and enjoys them, as long as they don't play too rough. She does get nervous if a larger dog tries to play too rough, but otherwise enjoys the company of other animals. Dutchess' ideal home will be with someone who is a home body or can take her along for activities. She LOVES to eat and snuggle in bed. No matter the temperature, she enjoys burrowing under the blankets and taking naps.

Special Animal Friends and Rescue, Inc. (SAFARI) is a non-profit, no-kill, foster based animal rescue. SAFARI is currently seeking foster parents, volunteers, and donation to fund the continued rescue of these deserving animals.
