Meet Oliver

Hi….my name is Oliver. When I was about 12 weeks old I did a crazy thing. I hid in a wood pile at a house where no one lived. In hind sight it wasn’t a very smart thing to do. I got scared and I meowed as loud and as long as I could. To my amazement a woman showed up from nowhere….and then a man too! I was excited, yet afraid. Eventually I found the courage to let the man pick me up. It was the best decision I’ve ever made.

Some would say I’m nothing special to look at. My coat is black and my eyes are green. Cats like me are a dime a dozen they say. But I know I’m more than that. Even when I got the bad news that I have feline leukemia I knew I still had a purpose. I don’t even know how I got feline leukemia, but it doesn’t matter except that I have to live in a home where I am the only cat or in a home where all the cats are feline leukemia positive like me.

I’m not going to be upset or sad about my situation because I know I have a lot to offer. I like to be held and I can purr a lot. It lets my human feel my love for them. I also like to play and I can be quite entertaining. My foster mom says the laser light is the best $5 she has ever spent. I look forward to curling up at the foot of a bed and keeping my humans’ feet warm at night. I look forward to meeting them at the door when they get home and rubbing against their leg so they know I really missed them. And if my new home has a dog, that is just a bonus for me! I love playing with my dogs at my foster home.

I might not live as long as other cats do….maybe a year or maybe five years or maybe a little longer if all goes well. I’m about 8 months old now and my health is just fine so who knows. So I will make the most of my time with my humans and make sure they know every day how much I love them and how lucky I am that they let me live with them!
