Arrival story: We found Bear at a crowded, rural shelter. He was happy to get out of that noisy place.

Approximate age / weight: 6 years old / 25 lbs.

Personality: Bear has good house manners, is house-trained and crate-trained. He is move-in ready! Bear quickly fell into his foster home routine and was thrilled to get some attention, and especially some grooming! When Bear arrived he was very matted but he did great at the groomers and feels much better now! Bear also had his teeth cleaned and loves to smile and show his sparkling pearly whites now. He also likes to give kisses so luckily his breath is much better, as well. Bear is good at the vet’s office and in the car.

Bear is great with other dogs but doesn't exactly interact with them much. He does like to cuddle with one of the resident dogs if it means getting the prime spot near any human :) He is not good with cats or other small animals. Children 15 years and older would be fine. Bear will chase a tennis ball but otherwise doesn't seem to know exactly what toys are. He prefers to go for walks (he LOVES his walks!) or take naps by his people (he LOVES his people!). He is a total lap dog and likes to find the cushiest spot for a nap. Bear is very smart and learned how to sit quickly.

Forever home: Bear would enjoy a quieter lifestyle with a special someone(s) who enjoy a good walk with a good snuggle afterwards. With great house manners and charming personality Bear will make an excellent companion. As a mini Schnauzer, Bear will require regular grooming that is probably best done at a grooming salon.

Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $225 for adult dogs. Different adoption fees apply for older dogs, small breeds and puppies - $125 for senior dogs, $275 for small breed dogs and $250 for puppies, plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.
We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. To meet a dog in person, please see our event calendar for the latest information. Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).
Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.
Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
