Nikko German Shepherd Dog Mix Eau Claire, WI

Hi, my name is Nikko and I am a neutered male German Shepherd mix. I am about 7 years old and a special needs dog only in that I get REALLY afraid of thunderstorms when there are no humans around to tell me that I am safe. If thunderstorms are in the forecast and no one will be home, I need to be placed in a kennel that I can't get out of; if someone is home there is no problem. This is why I will do best in a home where there is someone around most of the time and can keep me company during storms. I am a calm, mellow, and relaxed dog who is extremely pleasant to be around. I love people! I will bark when someone comes to the door, but once I have alerted you I stop and I am very quiet otherwise. I am one of the sweetest dogs that you will ever meet, and I love to cuddle and know that you love me. I am housebroken and FANTASTIC on leash. I know sit, shake, come, and I play fetch. My previous owner would take me for a 1-2 mile walk every morning and evening, and in between walks we would play fetch for 10-20 minutes 2 or more times a day. I love to chase tennis balls and I bring them right back to you and either, put the ball in your hands or drop it between your feet. I am super friendly and I do well with older children, but I have never been around toddlers or babies. I do well with most other dogs, but not all of them and I would prefer a home without cats. I would love to have a fenced in yard, but if you leave me alone for a long time I have been known to climb the fence and go looking for you. If there is a storm approaching I will definitely climb the fence and run fast in an attempt to run away from the storm. Please come to see me! When you realize how perfect I am except for the storm anxiety I know you will give me a wonderful home. It really doesn't storm that often, and I just need you here with me when it does.
